The ID Austria
You can now identify yourself in Austria in a modern, secure and digital way with ID Austria. The ID Austria enables people to identify themselves securely online and thus use digital services and conclude transactions.
If you do not yet have a cell phone signature, you can apply for the ID Austria directly at Service Unit Registration and residents, passport matters - Passport and identity card, ID Austria during office hours or make an appointment online in advance.
What requirements do I need?
- official photo ID (passport at best)
- cell phone with Austrian telephone number switched on
- possibly a current photo in passport format (if passport is older than six months)
- possibly accompanying documents
Only Austrian citizens can apply for the ID Austria at Service Unit Registration and residents, passport matters - Passport and identity card, ID Austria.!
Citizens from the EU or EEA should apply for the ID Austria at the Provincial Police Directorate Tyrol.
How can I switch my Handy-Signatur to ID Austria?
The Handy-Signatur was the predecessor of ID Austria. Since December 5, 2023, the Handy-Signatur has been replaced by the ID Austria.
You can convert your Handy-Signatur to ID Austria directly in the Service Unit Citizen service and lost property service.. You will also receive general advice on switching to ID Austria there.
