Otherwise (e.g. for indoor events or on private property), the Department of Business & Tourism will refer you to other offices such as the Service Unit Events and survey service
Event registration
Is my event subject to registration?
An event is generally subject to registration if it is open to the public. There are some exceptions to this.

When is an event public?
According to § 2 of the Tyrolean Events Act, an event is public if
- the visitors have not been personally invited or
- An admission fee is charged or
- an economic benefit, e.g. a profit, is achieved.
A public event is generally subject to registration. There are some exceptions to this.

What documents are required for registration?
Generally required:
- Fully completed registration form
- Site plan with event facilities (scale 1:500)
- Consent of the person authorized to dispose of the event site (respective landowner, etc.)
For use of public land:
- Consent of the landowner (usually the City of Innsbruck), responsible for the City of Innsbruck: Service Unit Economy and tourism.
- Permit from the road traffic authority, responsible for: Service Unit Road traffic and road law

For events with more than 1,500 visitors
- Safety concept: according to §6a of the Tyrolean Events Act

What deadlines apply for registration?
- Events with up to 1,000 visitors: Registration at least four weeks before the planned start
- Events with more than 1,000 visitors: Registration at least six weeks before the planned start (according to the Tyrolean Events Act)
Register your event as early as possible to avoid delays due to incomplete paperwork.

What other permits do I need and who is responsible?
Depending on the type of event, size, procedure and location, further permits must be obtained or experts consulted.

- From 1,500 visitors you need a security concept in accordance with § 6a Major events

What do I have to pay attention to when organizing events on roads?
- If you are organizing a gathering, i.e. a demonstration, you must notify the regional police directorate at least drei days in advance (§ 86 StVO).
- If you are holding sporting competitions (with timekeeping, etc.), you must also apply to the provincial police directorate (in the case of routes extending beyond Innsbruck, to the Tyrolean provincial government).
- For events on roads such as concerts, theaters, etc. you need a permit according to § 82 Road Traffic Regulations for the use of the road for "purposes other than traffic" and a permit from the City of Innsbruck for the use of the area. This also applies to fitness events.

Pyrotechnics must be registered with the provincial police headquarters in good time.
What do I have to observe during the event?
As an organizer, you also have special obligations during the event. Please refer to § 16 of the Tyrolean Event Act.
What costs are incurred by event organizers?
- Procedural costs for the event notification
- Stamp duty: 14.30 euros (according to the Federal Tax Ordinance)
- Administrative fee (according to the Municipal Tax Ordinance):
- one-off events:
- up to 1,500 visitors: 50 euros
- over 1,500 visitors: 200 euros
- recurring events:
- up to 1,500 visitors: 100 euros
- over 1,500 visitors: 400 euros
- one-off events:
- any other fees such as the AKM fee (fee for public music performances)

These costs do not include any other charges and fees for additional permits and expenses. For example, costs may be incurred for a permit under road traffic law (§82 StVO) or for the basic transfer (see list of fees).
How can I advertise my event?
Advertising in public space
Notices of temporary events and election advertising posters in public spaces are not subject to notification requirements if they are erected no earlier than six weeks before the start of the event or election day and removed no later than two weeks after the end of the event or election day.
For advertising on the street that exceeds these provisions, you need a permit.

What has to be considered for event venues?
The construction, modification or conversion of a venue is subject to special requirements with regard to fire protection, safety of use, barrier-free access, sound insulation and the currently applicable OIB guidelines. Therefore, events in buildings are only permitted if certain requirements are met. Furthermore, the building and fire police subject event venues to a corresponding inspection or acceptance in fire and safety matters or construction-related or emission-limiting measures.
