Crescendo Youth Orchestra

David Alexander Arroyabe has been conducting the Crescendo Youth Orchestra since 2008/09, following on from Johannes Huber, who had done a great deal of valuable groundwork with the orchestra over many years.

The ensemble currently comprises around 45 members, mostly pupils from the music school, but also a few guest musicians. Most of the participants are aged between approximately eleven and 15, though there are also some students and adults.

The core line-up is a string ensemble, to which – depending on the programme – additional musicians are added.

Performances

The ensemble made its debut in November 2008 in the Great City Hall with works by Edward Elgar, Joseph Haydn and Irish folk music.

Since then, the orchestra has performed annually at the Christmas and Carnival concerts, and regularly participates in the summer festivals in the Hofgarten and concert tours of the music school.

Rehearsals

Rehearsals take place on Wednesdays from 5.15 p.m. to 7 p.m. during school hours in the orchestra rehearsal hall.
